The most important ones are your eyes, mind, hands, time and heart. You need to see things from many different perspectives. You need to see things that are not there. You need to see and read many things to expand your mind and have references to draw from and if you have them you need your hands to put it down on paper or shape something into a usable product. You will need a lot of time to put all your ideas down to get good results. If you never put your heart into anything you will get the same result every time.

My Observation: Yes, this is the first thing I use. My brain observes design in every little thing. Like when I go on a restaurant I see the banner, decoration, design of the menu first and then I decide what to eat.

Also I always try to find inspiration from everyday things as I mostly work with user interface design and which deals with user experience. As an wise man once said that, Good artists copy, great artists steal.

My PC: I use a comparatively low end pc. It is a machine operated by windows and powered by core i3 processor with 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD and 128 GB SSD.

Pen/Paper/Pencil: I first neglected this sweet and highly useful technique, which is doodling and sketching before going to do something with software. Now I mostly spend my time sketching and thinking.

Adobe Photoshop: Now for the part of using software, I personally started working with Adobe Photoshop for photo manipulation and from there I started doing interface design in Photoshop and still doing it.

Adobe Illustrator: For creating vector artwork, dealing with logo and icon and for doing occasional print design I use illustrator.

Google: Again for the competitive era of digital design, taking inspiration from the life around you isn’t enough sometime. So I search and search for inspiration, old concept of something I’m creating and blog about my projects topic. Remember design is redesign. So which is looking unique to you, if you split it into tiny part you’ll find it a common process. So I use google for taking inspiration.
